The Milestone is perfectly situated the Peak District of South Yorkshire in the grounds of Crystal Peak Shopping Centre in Sheffield. Right next door to the bus depot this is a popular site for shoppers to enjoy a drink and grad a bite of something to eat. The pub offers its guests a large lounge/diner capable of hosting up to 60 diners, a separate bar with games area, outside drinking patio and ample parking. At night the pub is a well-established music venue hosting bands, karaoke and two open jam sessions.

We are looking for an experienced licensee with the right skill set to maintain the high standards and excellent reputation that the Milestone enjoys. You must have previous experience in running a large community pub with a food offer and have a passion to deliver a variety of entertainment. We are looking for an operator with creative flair and knows how to motivate a team to build and deliver a great guest experience.

The site currently takes on average £17,700 per week with 78% of sales from the wet side of the business, but has the potential to achieve up to £25k a week by targeting extra food and drinks sales using the popular Marston's menu.

 As well as appealing to shoppers the pub has a great value Sunday carvery offer which attracts guests from across the city and the local community. There is an opportunity to grow food sales and build on the great reputation the pub enjoys. In addition there is a strong experienced team of staff already in situto support the pub going forward.
 
Anticipated partner profit for the Milestone is £TBC based on TBC% of Turnover to be payroll expenditure.

The Opportunity

What’s in it for you?

  • All of your stock, including food, and all associated consumables are supplied by Marston’s, although you will be responsible for managing it once it has been delivered.

  • A dedicated Area Manager supporting you to help you grow the business.
  • Access to our 450 strong-support teams whenever you need them – including Marketing, Recruitment best practice and Food and Drink specialists.
  • All our Pub Partners get access to our FREE Learning, Development and Training platform Campus (a package worth over £300!)
  • If you do want to leave early, there’s always the option of six months’ notice with a ‘break’ clause in the contract.

What’s expected from you:

Our pubs are at the heart of the community, bringing locals and the communities together by serving great drinks, perfect food and fantastic events. It’s a proven business-model, perfect for skilled publicans or retail manager with food experience, who can drive sales, standards and guest experience.

In addition to the £5k security deposit required for this agreement, you will need to cover legal costs (£360), and your own insurance (except building insurance, which we’ll cover). Also, you’ll want to start thinking about your team; taking care of paying them and all other employment matters.
 
Before we all sign the agreement and see you heading into a whole new life, you’ll just need to show us proof that you’ve had independent financial advice from an accountant and solicitor and have completed a sustainable business plan, in accordance with the Pubs Code. And, of course, obtain your personal licence (which we can help with) and complete your induction training.
 
It’s a five-year commitment, so you have loads of time to build the business and get it performing brilliantly!
