Run the Coach & Horses with Marston's in Barnard Castle

Coach & Horses
Barnard Castle
Retail Agreement

If you're an skilled publican or retail manager then check out our latest opportunity to run the Coach & Horses in Barnard Castle on our Partner Agreement.

The Coach & Horses is perfectly situated in the centre of Barnard Castle, a very busy market town in County Durham. As we approach Spring the pub will be at it's busiest for the next 6-7 months with the tourists that flock to the area, but it is also a major attraction for tourists all year round with the scenic aspect, Castle and Bowes museum are close by. This is a great prospect for an licensee who is passionate about connecting with their local town and community.

There is one long central bar that services the main drinking area at the front of the pub and the pool room towards the top. There is a covered smoking area/patio at the side of the pub and then a large paved beer garden with numerous tables for the better weather. The pub also has 7 lettings rooms and a catering kitchen. The site currently takes on average £6,000 per week with 90% of sales from the wet side of the business, 10% from the 7 letting rooms but has the potential to achieve up to £10k a week by implementing a great own food menu and increasing drinks sales.

We are looking for a licensee/s who can build strong links within the local community and has the drive to boost sales and drive the Coach & Horses to reach its' full potential.

Please note this figure does not include the additional benefits of running a Partner Agreement with Marston’s as detailed below.

If this is not the pub for you do you know someone who is? If so, let us know using our Refer a Friend scheme and if successful in being placed in the pub we will give you a £1,000! (Terms & conditions apply)

What we expect from you:

Our Partner Agreement is a proven business-model, perfect for entrepreneurs who can drive sales, standards and guest experience.

In addition to the £5k security deposit required for this agreement, you will need to cover legal costs (£360 inc VAT), and your own insurance (except building insurance, which we’ll cover). Also, you’ll want to start thinking about your team; taking care of paying them and all other employment matters.

Before we all sign the agreement and see you heading into a whole new life, you’ll just need to show us proof that you’ve had independent financial and legal advice and have completed a sustainable business plan, in accordance with the Pubs Code. And, of course, obtain your personal licence (ask a member of our team about booking this course free of charge with us) and complete your induction training.

It’s a five-year commitment, so you have loads of time to build the business and get it performing brilliantly but, if you do want to leave early, there’s always the option of six months’ notice with a ‘break’ clause in the contract
