Overview

This is a rare recruitment opportunity, the first time its been available in over 9 years!! The Pontardawe Inn is situated in the popular town of Pontardawe in Neath and Port Talbot council area and is a large community pub with a generous trading area.

The pub has had a refurbishment over 18 months ago and in excellent condition plus its full of amenities for all types of guests. The Pontardawe has 50-60 covers and also benefits from a separate function room and darts facility perfect for pulling in local sports teams. A classic pub menu is served, and the split is currently 70/30 in favour of wet with scope to increase the food sales.

The pub is most famous for its weekly entertainment with a loyal, local following.

The site has large outdoor seating to the rear with space to expand as well. There is a large customer car park, Each room inside has access to the bar.

The ideal candidate would be a community operator who has a food background, previous experience of managing a function room and sports teams would be an advantage.

Things to consider

In addition to the £5k security deposit and legal fees required for this agreement, you will need to cover your own insurance, except building insurance, which we’ll cover. Also, you’ll want to start thinking about your team; taking care of paying them and all other employment matters.

Before we all sign the agreement and see you heading into a whole new life, you’ll just need to show us proof that you’ve had independent financial advice from an accountant and solicitor, as dictated by the Statutory Pub Code. And, of course, obtain your personal licence (which we’ll help with) and complete your induction training.

It’s a five-year commitment, so you have loads of time to build the business and get it performing brilliantly but, if you do want to leave early, there’s always the option of six months’ notice with a ‘break’ clause in the contract.
